About Klair

Last updated 23 August 2026

Klair is a set of free tools for the paperwork Indian businesses generate every month — GST invoices, rent receipts, HRA exemption, salary slips, offer letters, full-and-final settlements and professional tax. It is built and run by Klairtech, a small software company in India.

Why we built it

Most of this paperwork is not complicated, but it is fiddly, and getting it wrong is expensive. A rent receipt missing a revenue stamp gets rejected by a payroll team. A salary slip with the wrong professional-tax slab quietly under-deducts for a year. An HRA calculation that ignores the metro/non-metro distinction overstates an exemption.

The existing options were either spreadsheets people copy from a colleague and never update, or full payroll suites that cost more than a small firm wants to spend. We wanted the middle thing: a tool that knows the current rules, does one job properly, and does not ask you to sign up before it will help you.

How the tools work

Your figures stay in your browser. Every calculator and document generator runs entirely on your own device. Salary amounts, employee names, client details and rent figures are never uploaded to us, because the arithmetic and the PDF are produced locally by your browser. There is no server-side copy to leak.

The one exception is deliberate and opt-in: if you create a free account and press Save to workspace, we store a small record so you can find the document later. That record holds the document type, a title and an amount — never the document's contents. This is described precisely in our privacy policy.

Keeping up with the rules

Indian tax and labour rules move constantly, and a tool that was right last year is a liability this year. Recent changes we have had to work through include the new Labour Codes that took effect on 21 November 2025 — which redefined "wages" and require basic pay plus dearness allowance to be at least half of total remuneration — and the revised income-tax regime slabs. Professional-tax slabs change state by state on their own schedule.

Maintaining that is most of the ongoing work, and it is the main reason the tools are worth using rather than copying a formula from a blog post.

How we make money

We would rather say this plainly than have you wonder.

What we are not

We are not a chartered accountancy firm and we do not give tax advice. The tools implement published statutory rules and show their working so you can check them, but a calculator cannot know your circumstances. For anything consequential, talk to a professional. Our terms set this out formally.

Talk to us

We read everything sent to hello@klairtech.com. If a tool gets something wrong, or a slab has changed and we have not caught it, telling us is genuinely useful — corrections go out to everyone at once. You can also suggest and vote on what we build next on the ideas board.
